GNWA is primarily a social group. While events are planned with GNs in mind, others interested in joining in are welcome. Given the nature of the people in this group, at any one time, many will be out of town/country, so you will likely meet new people each time you attend an event.

To receive notices of GNWA events in the Washington DC metro region, you can subscribe to the GNWA Yahoo! Groups listserv by sending an email to gnwa-subscribe@yahoogroups.com or by clicking here to join. The listserv does not function as a discussion forum, only as an announcement vehicle for events.

Types of Events

You will receive notices of several types of GNWA events. They are listed below using the [Subject Line Tag] the listserv moderator will use to help you identify messages quickly: 

• [Dessert & Discussion] - This is our take on the old fashioned salons and are usually hosted at someone's home. Discussion topics are pretty varied, depending on the host's interests. Discussion topics can be varied depending on host and presenters.
• [Sunday Brunch] and [Happy Hour]- These are organised by a volunteer and occur at a different restaurant each a month. 
• [Movie night] - These may be cinema outings or an event held in someone's home. Sometimes they are related to a nomad-like topic; other times, someone may just send out a posting saying "I'm going, who else wants to go?" 
• [Around Town] - Cultural, social or international events of interest to GNs--the person posting may not necessarily attend the event
• [Comings & Goings] - News on nomads coming into and out of town
• [Annual Winter Potluck Party]
